Gorgeous Cosmetics was founded in 1999, by Australian Makeup Artist, David McConnell. David’s successful artistry business earned him the reputation of being the Australian Makeup Artist who created absolutely flawless looking skin – skin that looked more beautiful than real skin & which was a perfect base for bridal, photographic & catwalk makeup.
In 2002 David launched a school to teach makeup artistry, called the Academy of Makeup. Gorgeous Cosmetics was the beauty brand used in the school & was introduced to 1000's of Makeup Artists. Word spread in the makeup industry that Gorgeous was a line endorsed by professional Artists, yet it was still easy to use, approachable & affordable. The Academy is the leading school specializing in Makeup in Australia.
2005 saw Gorgeous launch retail Makeup Boutiques across Australia. With the success of the line in the Academy schools, David said “Because I’ve seen its success in the demanding world of makeup artistry, I know that Gorgeous Cosmetics will work wonders for Australian women too.”
In 2006, Base Perfect Foundation, the Hero Product of the Gorgeous Cosmetics collection, launched. Highly pigmented for superior coverage, yet light and dewy for a realistic, skin mimicking effect, this vitamin infused and silicon based formula amazingly seemed to work wonders on skin of all types. International demand prompted us to launch in the USA & an international corporate office was established in Los Angeles in 2012.
In 2016, our popularity skyrocketed when Kim Kardashian swatched our now famous “Ever Metallic” Eye-shadow pallet & declared it “life changing” on live TV, in hit show “Keeping up with the Kardashians”.
