Love This Palette !

I absolutely love this palette !
I think theBalm makes high quality products and I enjoy the witty names that they give to their products and colors. This palette is my all time favorite from them. Some of my favorite bands are represented in the colors. While I enjoy the nostalgia of the names, it's the colors and the usability of the products that keeps me reaching for this palette.
While my age (49) means that many milestones in my life have passed to the music of these bands, it also means that the colors and finishes of many palettes designed for a younger woman don't work well on my older skin, heavily hooded eyes, and more mature aesthetic. This palette really finds that middle ground in being stylish and having some shimmer, but not being overkill. Having a selection of mattes to use with the shimmers means that I can make many different looks that work well for me.
This is the ONLY palette that I own, or even that I've seen, where I can use EVERY color/product. Many companies make palettes that I find tempting because of the quality of the product, color selection, and the savings of buying a palette vs all of the individual products. There are usually one or two items in each palette that I know that I will never use.....a far out color that I feel wouldn't look good on me or a powder/concealer/foundation tone that is far too dark for me. I can use every color/product in the Balm Jovi Rockstar Face Palette. The color palette works very well with my fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes and I believe it would also work well for most complexions
The Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette by theBalm includes 12 eye shadows, 2 cream lip/cheek stains, a powder blush, and a powder highlighter/luminizer. . The "Don't You Want Me" blush is a pretty pinky coral shade that is very flattering. It can also be used as an eye shadow. The Solid Gold luminizer gives a soft glow with some shimmer. Milly (a cool deep rose) and Vanilly (a warm, more orangey, rose) are sheer creams (so they look much lighter on than they do in the pan) that can be used as lip or cheek stains.
The eye shadows are what attracted me most to this palette. Because of my heavily hooded eye lids, I NEED to have some matte shadows in a palette to complete an eye look. The middle column, "Classical", includes 4 basic workhorse matte shades. I'll go into a bit more detail on them to help the other ladies, like myself, who need some matte shades to work with. "Adagio" is a soft pale sand shade, perfect as n all over base color for the lid to brow bone. "Allegro" is a warm medium camel color. "Moderato" is a lovely deep plum/purple. It's my favorite, most used, and I dread the day that I run out of it ! "REM" (from the "Alternative" shades) on the lid, "Moderato" to create a faux crease, and a touch of "Metal-ica" (from the "Heavy Metal" shades) on the brow bone is my favorite look. "Presto" is dark brown with a cool/grey tone. The first column contains the "Heavy Metal" shades with some glitter and the last column is the "Alternative" shimmer and satin shades. All of the shadows are very creamy. There is a bit of fall out in the pan but not from my eye lids as I apply. I use an eye shadow primer and find the colors stay true for 12+ hours. The colors blend well. I find the quality of these eye shadows to be up there with Urban Decay, which I consider to be the gold standard. It's easy to make many great looks with the very wearable colors predominately in browns and purples. From simple neutral looks to the more intense, day to night, this palette has you covered.
The palette packaging is a very sturdy cardboard base. I prefer something that has some kind of catch or latch to ensure it stays closed if I have it in my purse, but I have been pleasantly surprised that this has stayed shut with no problems and no powders spreading all over.
I highly recommend this palette !
