Q: Dr. Berger, my girlfriend has ichthyosis and is interested in getting a tattoo. I've been looking everywhere to research the idea before she does so and something goes wrong. I see you know about the condition, do you see negative results with getting a tattoo?

Dr. Berger: Dear Jase, short answer, “No tattoo for her!” It will certainly make things worse, and may provoke unexpected reactions since her skin turn-over rate is abnormal and generalized inflammation can result. No tattoo.
